Venice and life on the water

The sights of Venice and experiencing how Venetians live their life on the water was amazing. The trip to the islands of Murano and Burano offered an amazing glass blowing demonstration and the houses were brightly colored for the fisherman to see their homes from the water. With no cars in Venice, we all enjoyed walking through the maze of streets and bridges exploring the town.

Coliseum and Roman Forum

The sights of the coliseum and the Roman Forum provided a great deal of insight into how the people lived then. Fascinating engineering of the coliseum that still stands and is a venue for concerts today. Amazing considering it is 1,700 years old.

St Peter's Cupola

After seeing the wondrous St. Peter's Basilica, climbing 575 steps up this curved stairwell in the dome was well worth it for the spectacular views of Rome awaiting at the top.

a lee - So far.

Well, after a good night of rest, we went to see the Capuchine Monks. After that it was on to see the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel. Every part of the buildings was decorated. From the walls to the ceilings. The Sistine Chapel is as grand as I had imagined. Then, onto the Basillica. The long way up was definitely worthwhile. A spectacular view awaits you at the top. Then, we were on our own. The details with stay with me, but the nightlife exists here if you venture out and find it.

a lee - Arrival

After an exhausting flight, we have arrived in Rome. After exploring this city, you realize that this city is truely eternal. At every street corner you see beautiful churches and sculptures that are left by the ages, yet surrounding these timeless landmarks are neon lights and bustling shopping centers. It has so far been really enjoyable, although we are all burned out from lack of sleep. For me, my three favorite sites are the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, and the church where we saw the Ecstacy of Saint Theresa.
