The trip to the islands of Murano and Burano offered an amazing glass blowing demonstration and the houses were brightly colored for the fisherman to see their homes from the water. Fascinating engineering of the coliseum that still stands and is a venue for concerts today. After that it was on to see the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel. Every part of the buildings was decorated. From the walls to the ceilings. The Sistine Chapel is as grand as I had imagined. Then, onto the Basillica. The long way up was definitely worthwhile. A spectacular view awaits you at the top. Then, we were on our own. After exploring this city, you realize that this city is truely eternal. At every street corner you see beautiful churches and sculptures that are left by the ages, yet surrounding these timeless landmarks are neon lights and bustling shopping centers. It has so far been really enjoyable, although we are all burned out from lack of sleep.
